వెన్నెలకంటి కుమారుడు రాకేందు మౌళి (Rakendu Mouli) సింగర్, రైటర్, లిరిసిస్ట్! ఆయన నటుడు కూడా! నాగచైతన్య 'సాహసం శ్వాసగా సాగిపో'లో, నిఖిల్ 'కిరిక్ పార్టీ'లో హీరోలకు స్నేహితుడిగా కనిపించారు. హీరోగానూ కొన్ని సినిమాలు చేశారు. రాకేందు మౌళి హీరోగా నటించిన తాజా సినిమా 'క్రాంతి' (Kranthi Telugu Movie 2023). వి. భీమ శంకర్ దర్శకత్వంలో భార్గవ్ మన్నే నిర్మించారు. ఆహా ఓటీటీలో సినిమా విడుదలైంది.

కథ (Kranthi Movie Story) : రామ్ (రాకేందు మౌళి) తెలివైన యువకుడు. అతని లక్ష్యం పోలీస్ కావడం! రెండు రోజుల్లో ఎస్సై ట్రైనింగుకు వెళతాడనగా... ప్రేయసి సంధ్య (ఇనయా సుల్తానా) తన ఇంటికి వచ్చి తండ్రితో పెళ్లి సంబంధం గురించి మాట్లాడమని కోరుతుంది. వాళ్ళ ఇంటికి బయలుదేరిన రామ్, దారిలో సంధ్య మృతదేహం చూసి షాక్ తింటాడు. ఆమెను మర్చిపోలేక, జీవితంలో ముందడుగు వేయలేక బాధలో చాలా భారంగా బతుకును వెళ్లదీస్తుంటాడు. తల్లి (యమునా శ్రీనిధి) కుమారుడి పరిస్థితి చూసి మనోవేదన చెందుతుంది. సంధ్య మరణించిన ఏడాదికి రమ్య (శ్రావణి) అని మరో అమ్మాయి మిస్ అవుతుంది. రామ్ తల్లికి ఆమె బాగా తెలుసు. సొంత కుమార్తె అని భావించేది. ఓసారి రామ్ చేతికి రాఖీ కూడా కట్టింది. రమ్య మాత్రమే కాదు, అప్పటికి కాకినాడలో పదుల సంఖ్యలో అమ్మాయిలు కనిపించడం లేదని మిస్సింగ్ కంప్లైంట్స్ వస్తాయి. పోలీసులు పట్టించుకోరు. అప్పుడు రామ్ ఏం చేశాడు? మహిళలతో అతను ఎటువంటి ఉద్యమం స్టార్ట్ చేశాడు? అమ్మాయిల మిస్సింగ్ కేసుల వెనుక ఉన్న పెద్ద మనుషులు ఎవరు? వాళ్ళు ఎలా దొరికారు? అనేది మిగతా సినిమా. 

విశ్లేషణ : థిల్లర్ సినిమాలకు ఓటీటీలో ఆదరణ బావుంటోంది. అలాగని, థ్రిల్లర్స్ తీసి ప్రేక్షకులను మెప్పించడం అంత సులభం ఏమీ కాదు. ప్రపంచ సినిమా, వెబ్ సిరీస్‌లకు అలవాటు పడిన ప్రేక్షకులు కొత్తదనం కోరుకుంటున్నారు. దర్శకుడు వి. భీమ శంకర్ తీసిన 'క్రాంతి'లో కొత్తదనం ఉందా? లేదంటే ఎమోషన్స్ ఉన్నాయా? అనేది చూస్తే...  

మహిళలపై అత్యాచారాలు, అఘాయిత్యాలు, హత్యలు జరిగిన ఘటనలు ప్రతి రోజూ ఏదో వార్తల్లో చూస్తున్నాం. వింటున్నాం. ఆ కథలను భీమశంకర్ 'క్రాంతి'కి ఎంపిక చేసుకున్నారు. 'రామాయణంలో సీతాదేవిని ఎత్తుకెళ్లినప్పుడు రావణాసురుడు వెళ్లిన మార్గం రాముడికి తెలియకపోతే? మహాభారతంలో ద్రౌపదిని అవమానించినప్పుడు అక్కడ కృష్ణుడు లేకపోతే? పురాణాల్లో మొదలైన స్త్రీల వేధింపులు... ఇంత వరకు ఆగలేదు' అని హీరో చెప్పే మాట కథ, సినిమాలో ఆత్మను ఆవిష్కరిస్తుంది. 'క్రాంతి' ప్రారంభ సన్నివేశాలు సాదాసీదాగా ఉంటాయి. రమ్య మిస్సింగ్ కేసును చేధించాలని హీరో ప్రయత్నించడం ప్రారంభించిన తర్వాతే కథలో వేగం మొదలవుతుంది. 'తాళి కట్టలేని ప్రేమ బరువుగా ఉంటుంది', 'ఒక అమ్మాయి హెల్ప్ అడిగినా ఏ అమ్మయి కష్టాల్లో ఉన్నా వెంటనే వెళ్లి ఆదుకునే వాడిని మగాడు అంటారు', 'కడుపు నొప్పి వస్తే కంగారు పడే మగాడు గొప్పా? పురిటినొప్పులు భరించే ఆడది గొప్పా?' వంటి డైలాగులు ఆలోచింపజేసే విధంగా ఉన్నాయి. 'క్రాంతి' థ్రిల్లర్ సినిమా. అయితే, థ్రిల్ కంటే ఎమోషన్స్ ఆకట్టుకుంటాయి. పతాక సన్నివేశాల్లో మహిళల గురించి హీరో చెప్పే డైలాగులు బావున్నాయి. చివర్లో ఇచ్చే సందేశం బావుంది. అవసరమైనది. అయితే, తొమ్మిది రోజుల్లో సినిమా తీయడం వల్ల నిర్మాణ పరంగా, ఛాయాగ్రహణం పరంగా ఆ పరిమితులు తెలుస్తూ ఉంటాయి. కొంత టైమ్ తీసుకుని, బడ్జెట్ ఇంకొంచెం పెట్టి సినిమా తీసుంటే క్వాలిటీ అవుట్ పుట్ వచ్చేది.  

నటీనటులు ఎలా చేశారంటే? : రామ్ పాత్రలో ట్రాన్స్ఫర్మేషన్ చూపించడంలో రాకేందు మౌళి సక్సెస్ అయ్యారు. లుక్ పరంగా కొంచెం వేరియేషన్ చూపించారు. యాక్టింగ్ పరంగా పాత్రకు న్యాయం చేశారు. ఇనయా సుల్తానా కనిపించేది తెరపై తక్కువ సేపే. ఉన్నంతలో ఆమె బాగా చేశారు. రమ్య పాత్రలో శ్రావణి బావున్నారు. కాకినాడ పోలీస్ అధికారిగా ఆహుతి ప్రసాద్ తనయుడు కార్తీక్ కనిపించారు. మిగతా నటీనటుల్లో పెద్దగా గుర్తు పెట్టుకునే ముఖాలు ఏవీ లేవు.

చివరగా చెప్పేది ఏంటంటే? : 'క్రాంతి' ఎమోషనల్ థ్రిల్లర్ మూవీ. సమాజంలో స్త్రీలకు ఎదురవుతున్న సమస్యలను సినిమాలో చూపించారు. కథలో కొత్తదనం కంటే సినిమా చివర్లో మహిళలకు ఇచ్చిన సందేశం బావుంది. అంచనాలు ఏమీ పెట్టుకోకుండా చిన్న చిన్న లోపాలను క్షమిస్తే... వీకెండ్ ఓ లుక్ వేయొచ్చు.

One doesn't expect a concrete solution from mainstream films dealing with social issues. But one expects the film to balance the theme with entertainment. When a superstar is involved, is this too much to ask for?

In Kranti , no effort seems to have gone into looking beyond cliched ideas from the director as the plot remains a rehash of several blockbusters which trod a similar path ( Sivaji , Maharashi and Darshan's own Yajamana ). Writer-director V Harikrishna scores a blank in making a star film with a message.

Darshan plays Kranti Rayanna, one of the world's most successful businessmen. He returns to his hometown from Europe after 20 years to celebrate the centenary celebrations of the government school he studied in. Once back in India, Kranti learns the dirty truths of privatisation of education. He takes it upon himself to save thousands of government schools from going extinct.

More than the plight of the students, the film seems interested in showcasing Darshan as a man from another planet. There is no regard for the law of physics. In an overdose of fight scenes, Kranti sends the villains and cars flying. Darshan even rips off his body for a romantic number ( Bombe bombe ) with Rachita Ram.

Sure, the 'masala' films ought to concentrate on star power. But the film is replete with unintentionally hilarious action scenes, the most ridiculous being the one shot at a basketball court.

Except for a scene involving government school kids and the education minister (not a major spoiler), there are no surprises in the plot. Some dialogues are sure to get a rousing reception from fans. They give a glimpse of Darshan's enormous potential in the mainstream space. With his strong baritone and towering personality, he is tailormade for the genre. Yet, his films leave us wanting more.

The caricaturish villains (Tarun Arora, P Ravi Shankar) and inconsistent humour pulls the film down further. Kranti has no earthly reason to go on for nearly three hours. It exasperates you with melodrama as a host of senior actors (V Ravichandran, Umashree, and Mukhyamantru Chandru) are wasted in half-cooked roles.

Music composers and cinematographers venturing into direction is a common practice in the film industry. But why don't they collaborate with quality writers? Why don't they prioritise screenwriting? Harikrishna fails to churn out a crackling 'masala' film because he clings to an old-school template.

As for Darshan, the kind of fan following he has is the stuff of dreams. But is their immense loyalty repaid with worthy films? Kranti has a slew of dialogues aimed at his detractors, including one targeting the TV channels. Are they enough for a comprehensive film? No. It's time he became ambitious with his choice of scripts.

Actor Rakendu Mouli is gearing up to entertain the audiences with the upcoming film Kranthi, which is set to begin streaming on Aha from March 3rd. The trailer of the film created some interest around it. Now let’s see how the film has turned out to be.

The story is about Ram, a young man who is selected for SI training. Everything seems to be fine in his life, with Ram being deeply in love with Sandhya. However, things change for the worse after Sandhya is killed. A few months later, Ram’s cousin Ramya goes missing, and while searching for her, Ram comes to know some unsettling truths about Sandhya. What are those truths and what happens in the end forms the rest of the story.

On-Screen Performances:

Rakendu Mouli, who has been seen in supporting characters so far in his career, and made a name for himself as a lyricist, has been seen in the lead role in Kranthi. He does a decent job as Ram and tries to keep the audiences as interested as he can. Despite his honest efforts though, the movie doesn’t resonate a lot, and you will be left with the feeling that he has a lot more scope to improve as an actor. He has improved a lot when compared to his previous performances, and keeping the rest of the film in mind, it is safe to say that he is one of the better aspects of the film.

Bigg Boss fame Inaya Sultana doesn’t have a lot of scope for performance, and within the scope that she is given, she doesn’t manage to create a lot of impact as expected.

The rest of the supporting cast, which includes Sravani Setti, Yamuna Srinidhi, Kartik, Bhvani Chowdary V and others, are just about okay and do not make a lasting impression on the audience. They are plot devices that help the plot move forward, that’s all.

Off-Screen Talents:

Director Bhima Shankar has come with a thriller concept that has been seen several times before, where the protagonist comes to know that a series of missing cases or murders are all related in the end. The director has given an interesting twist to this concept though, in this film, and while it is interesting in certain areas, it seems largely superficial in others. However, keeping in mind the target audiences of the film, it is to be said that the director has done a decent job. The main drawback of the film is the pacing and the screenplay, as they bore the audiences a lot. The pacing makes the film feel like an unnecessary drag and makes you sleepy, while the routine screenplay does nothing in the film’s favour, and only really does everything the other way round.

The background score of the film is good enough, and helps elevate certain scenes. It may not be a huge asset for the film, but it is nevertheless fine. The cinematography of the film is good, but do not expect any new or inventive angles with the film, as they stick to pretty standard frames seen in thriller movies.

The production values are decent enough, and the art work is also decent. The editing could have been much better.

Minus Points:

Verdict: It’s a good choice by the makers to release the film on Aha and skip a theatrical release. It can be watched once from the comfort of your homes. Just don’t expect anything mind bending from the film.

'Kranti' movie review: What's good, what's bad in Darshan starrer?

Bengaluru, Jan 26: After hit movie 'Yajamana', Darshan and V Harikrishna are back with 'Kranti' which has been released on Thursday to coincide with the Republic Day celebration.

The movie has Rachita Ram playing the female lead with Ravichandran, Sumalatha, Tarun Arora, Sampath Raj, Ravi Kumar, Sadhu Kokila and others in the supporting cast.

'Kranti' has the music of V Harikrishna himself, Prakash Karinja's editing and A Karunakar's cinematography.

It is an action drama in which the Challenging Star will be seen in the role of Kranti Rayanna. Ravichandran plays his father.

Maestro is a film that many were waiting for eagerly. The film is the official remake of Andha Adhun and is now live on Disney Hotstar. Let’s see how it is.

Arun(Nithin) is a blind man who earns his living by playing the piano in Goa. Impressed by him, a yesteryear actor(Naresh) invites him to perform for his wife Simran(Tamannah) on their wedding anniversary. Arun lands at the star’s house only to get involved in a deadly murder. Who has been killed? What will Arun do now? What’s Simran’s role in all this? and where do Nabha Natesh and Jisshu Sen Gupta feature in this setup? That forms the rest of the story.

Plus Points:

Nithin makes a U-turn from his regular romantic dramas and chooses a role where he gets to perform. Nithin as the blind man suits the character perfectly and does not go overboard. There is no heroism in his role but still, Nithin made sure his body language expresses a lot.

Maestro will surely be a big game-changer for Tamannah as she is amazing in a negative role. Right from her looks to the expressions, Tamannah is top class. Her own voice also suits the negative role. All her scenes with Nithin have been executed so well.

The soul of the film is intact and has not been disturbed by the makers. The backdrop of Goa also suits the theme of the film. Nabha Natesh is neat in her small role and shares good chemistry with Nithin. Racha Ravi and Mangli get good roles and they do well in their given characters.

Minus Points:

Those who have seen the original will surely draw comparisons. Merlapaka Gandhi has directed the film and he has narrated the remake in a faithful manner. But the place where the film drops is the drama quotient. The film originally had gripping drama but the director failed to elevate it in the remake.

Nithin’s role needed more dramatization but he is showcased in a pale and dull manner in tense scenes. The tension he faces in crazy situations has not been elevated properly. If Nithin’s role and thrills would have been showcased in a more interesting manner in the second half, the effect would have been even better.

All the showcased thrills are good but the impact that the original created is missed in the remake. During the climax, the audience is waiting in tension to know the twist and a song breaks out and this drags the ending.

Technical Aspects:

The production values are great as the film has good visuals. The Goan setup and the crime backdrop are elevated well through good camerawork. Music by Mahati Sagar is just about okay but his BGM was classy. The editing is decent and so was the production design. Nithin was also styled well in the film.

Coming to the director Merlapaka Gandhi, he has done a decent job with the remake. He does not experiment much and showcased what was needed. If he would have added more intensity to the drama, things would have been great.

On the whole, Maestro is a faithful remake of Andha Dhun and has interesting thrills. Nithin and Tamannah shoulder the film with their standout performances. All those who have seen the original will surely miss the drama a bit. But those who have not will end up liking this thriller which was some passable suspense elements.

Kollywood star hero Thalapathy Vijay is gearing up to entertain audiences with his upcoming film, The GOAT. The movie, directed by Venkat Prabhu, is said to be an espionage action thriller with Vijay playing dual roles. The biggie will open in cinemas on 5th September. The overseas advances are solid, while India bookings have started on a bumper note.

On the other hand, another Tamil star hero, Ajith, has two films in the pipeline: Vidaa Muyarchi and Good Bad Ugly. There is no clarity regarding the release of Vidaa Muyarchi, but Good Bad Ugly is scheduled for Pongal 2025 release. Adhik Ravichandran of Mark Antony fame is the director. In a recent interview directed, Venkat Prabhu shared a sensational fact that is now making waves on social media.

Venkat Prabhu said, “The Greatest Of All Time has a high moment of Ajith Kumar in the film. It could be a voiceover, shot, or reference, which I cannot reveal for now. Similarly there is a reference of Thalapathy Vijay in the form of a dialogue in Good Bad Ugly.” Ajith and Vijay are two of the biggest stars in Tamil cinema, and references like these will turn theatres into stadiums. Fans will surely have a gala time with The GOAT and Good Bad Ugly.
