National University of Singapore’s (NUS) graduate programmes are designed to nurture a passion for inquiry and to provide students with the tools to tackle intellectual challenges with confidence and creativity. NUS offers a wide range of graduate programmes catering for a variety of interests, namely:

  • Doctoral degree programmes which are primarily research-based and are typically the first choice for students who seek depth of knowledge, enjoy creative problem solving, and who aspire to hold high level positions in their respective fields.
  •  Master's degree programmes which are primarily designed to prepare students for the practice of a profession (typically Master's by coursework), or to master a subject area as a precursor to doctoral training (typically Master's by research).
  • Graduate Diploma provides focused professional training in a specific niche. Graduate Diploma is often favoured by students who seek additional exposure to an area of interest without committing themselves to longer-term further studies.

These programmes offer excellent opportunities for students to further develop their potential as intellectual leaders for a wide range of career paths. NUS is home to students and faculty members from many countries. Its faculty members have an international reputation for research excellence in many fields. They have built collaborations in research across national borders and disciplines. Some of these collaborations provide opportunities for students to work towards a Ph.D. degree conferred jointly by NUS and an overseas partner university. Description

About Pinterest :

Millions of people across the world come to Pinterest to find new ideas every day. It’s where they get inspiration, dream about new possibilities and plan for what matters most. Our mission is to help those people find their inspiration and create a life they love. In your role, you’ll be challenged to take on work that upholds this mission and pushes Pinterest forward. You’ll grow as a person and leader in your field, all the while helping Pinners make their lives better in the positive corner of the internet.

Creating a life you love also means finding a career that celebrates the unique perspectives and experiences that you bring. As you read through the expectations of the position, consider how your skills and experiences may complement the responsibilities of the role. We encourage you to think through your relevant and transferable skills from prior experiences.

Our new progressive work model is called PinFlex, a term that’s uniquely Pinterest to describe our flexible approach to living and working. Visit our PinFlex landing page to learn more.

We’re looking for Data Science interns to help evolve and shape the future of our product -- inspiring Pinners and connecting them with actionable content, understanding advertisers and measuring the value Pinterest provides to them, and enabling our employees to evaluate potential product changes faster than ever before. You’ll apply quantitative analysis, statistical techniques, modeling and data mining while working cross-functionally with engineering and product partners.

The results of your work will influence the team roadmap, identify actionable product opportunities, refine our experimentation platform, and drive key initiatives, turning your insights and analyses into real-world products. We offer a 12-week summer internship program in our San Francisco or Seattle office.

What you’ll do:

  • Influence and evolve our product roadmap to help us fulfill our mission - to bring everyone the inspiration to create a life they love - using data and exploratory analysis to understand user behavior and trends, and identify opportunities for product innovation.
  • Design and implement core metrics that serve as the north stars for team efforts and help design and evaluate A/B experiments that drive these metrics.
  • Explore alternative experimentation techniques to help internal teams evaluate their ideas faster.
  • Help gather explicit signals about Pinner, Merchant, Creator, or Advertiser preferences and tastes using survey methodologies and statistical/modeling based approaches.
  • Work cross-functionally to build and communicate key insights, and collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, designers, and researchers to help build the next experiences on Pinterest.

What we’re looking for:

  • Currently pursuing a PhD in statistics, mathematics, economics, applied sciences, computer science or related field.
  • Experience using SQL and Python or R.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to tell a complete narrative using data.
  • Ability to connect data analysis to real business problems, in order to impact business performance.
  • We let the type of work you do guide the collaboration style. That means we're not always working in an office, but we continue to gather for key moments of collaboration and connection.
  • This role may require you to be located near an office for in-person collaboration, and therefore may need to be located a commutable distance from one of our Pinterest offices.

At Pinterest we believe the workplace should be equitable, inclusive, and inspiring for every employee. In an effort to provide greater transparency, we are sharing the base salary range for this position. Final salary is based on a number of factors including location, travel, relevant prior experience, or particular skills and expertise.

Information regarding the culture at Pinterest and benefits available for this position can be found here .

US based applicants only

The salary for this position is 11,000 monthly.
