The PhD Management Programme offers specialisations in three broadly defined disciplines: organizational behaviour and strategy, operations management, and finance.

The objectives of PhD in Management Sciences are to:

• contribute new knowledge in the field of business management and administration through applied and theoretical research.
• produce graduates who can significantly contribute to the existing body of knowledge of business management through research in their respective field of specialization.
• provide a breadth of knowledge about contemporary management practices and philosophies through various core and optional courses. 
• teach students sophistical analytical, quantitative and qualitative research methods to enhance their capacity for academic research.
• encourage graduates to get an in-depth exposure of practical and theoretical aspects of specific business content areas and related problems and conduct original research to fill in the gaps left in the existing body of knowledge.
• develop critical thinking and creativity in seeking solutions to practical and theoretical problems by using developed skills to evaluate information, solve problems, and make sound decisions.
• contribute towards the development of new ideas, theories and business models.

Entry Requirements

• A Master’s degree in a relevant subject, earned from a recognized university after a minimum of 17.5/18 years of education with minimum CGPA 3.0 out of 4.0 in the semester system or first division in the annual system is required to be eligible for admission in PhD program.
• The potential applicant will submit the application accompanied with a concept paper/research proposal that he/she intends to undertake, to the admission office of the relevant division/campus. He/she may also be required to justify the concept paper/ research proposal before the PhD Admission Committee at the time of interview.
• The applicants shall be required to take Subject Based Entry Test and secure minimum score as per HEC requirements to become eligible for admission in PhD program.

Course Outline & Fee Structure

Eligibility criteria.

• Must qualify GRE-Subject/GAT-Subject/IMS Graduate Admission Test (I-GAT) as per HEC requirement and IMS procedures. • MS (with research)/M.Phil. (areas related to Management Sciences) 18 years degree from a chartered institute with minimum CGPA 3.0. • MS with research or M.Phil. degree in related disciplines. However, such candidates will need to complete deficiencies or prerequisite determined by the Ph.D. Admission Committee.

Program Duration

The minimum duration for completion of Ph.D. degree in Management Sciences is three years and maximum duration is eight years. In any hardship case, the academic committee/council on the recommendation of the committee comprising the Dean, supervisor(s), the registrar and the head of the department may extend said duration. The minimum and maximum limits of the above-mentioned duration may be enhanced for the part-time students.

Degree Completion Requirements

After the Ph.D. course work and passing the comprehensive examination (as per HEC rules) the student shall be evaluated for the qualifying for the candidacy of research for the Ph.D. program by the qualifying evaluation procedure of the IMS. For successful completion of the Ph.D. degree, scholar should fulfill the requirement i. Successful completion of Ph.D. course work. ii. Qualifying the comprehensive examination. iii. Successful defense of the research proposal/synopsis. iv. Publish at-least one research paper from his/her Ph.D. research work in HEC approved journal. v. Successful defense of Ph.D. thesis. vi. Other minimum requirements set by IMS/HEC.

1. After completing the PhD. (Management Sciences) degree, PhD graduates can contribute in the multiple areas of management sciences. 2. PhD. (Management Sciences) students gain an in-depth knowledge of the particular area of management like management, marketing, human resources, finance and supply chain. 3. At the end of this degree, the students become more creative and would be able to contribute in the current body of knowledge. 4. The main objective of PHD program is to train research scholar by imparting rigorous training and also preparing them for publication and teaching at university level.

Eligibility

a. MS/MPhil Degree (18 years of education with 6 credit hrs. research) in relevant discipline from HEC recognized University with minimum 3.0 out of 4.0 CGPA under semester system OR 1st Division under annual system. b. Selection in the respective program will be subject to availability of seats, merit based on academic qualification, valid GRE International / NTS / NUML devised GAT- subject score and interview. c. Applicants with valid GRE International/GAT-Subject from NTS will have to pass written/subjective portion of NUML GAT-S (as per schedule of respective Faculties) to secure admission. d. Candidate qualified for interview will have to submit and present a Statement of Purpose1500-2000 words (inclusive of title of research, intended field, potential research and passion for area of research) for PhD studies at the time of interview. e. For Management Sciences only : Candidates who have completed 30 credit hours of coursework in the case of professional degrees at the master's level, such as MBA and MS in Project Management are also eligible. However, preference will be given to those who have MS Degree with research at Level-7.

Description

The department aims to establish and promote Riphah as a leading University for teaching and research in Mathematical Sciences both within Pakistan and Internationally.

Statistics conceive pragmatic solutions in the presence of uncertainty. Think critically – particularly with respect to conceiving multiple explanations for observed phenomena (this is key in the understanding of most statistical concepts e.g. statistical testing, inference, design, model construction and diagnostics, etc.), and choosing between these: Appropriate data collection; Formulate analysis suitable to answer their own or their clients’ questions, both under ideal data or within the constraints of available data; Identify data limitations with respect to their ability to answer specific questions; Convey potentially complex results simply every nation for the development of its Socio-Economic setup. To meet such challenges department of Statistics started M.Phil classes in 2001. The study of M.Phil is based on two years of training. During the first & second semesters, students undergo the course work and in their remaining year, they are given research tasks. Moreover, this M.Phil. is a leading Programme towards Ph.D.

The mission of the faculty of management sciences is to exhibit excellence in teaching and research for our undergraduate and graduate students with an emphasis on Islamic ethical values, integrity, social responsibility, and entrepreneurial spirit along with continuous learning.

Today’s changing socio-business environment and increasing globalization have created an international community demanding global management. In this context, the aim of Faculty of Management Sciences (FMS) is to provide students with knowledge, skills and attitudes that will help them begin their career anywhere in the world and to ensure that they will have the education to meet their goals and become leaders in their own field.
