The winners have been selected for New College's 2020 Equality & Diversity Essay Competition! Each year, the competition is open to Year 12 students from our Step Up partner schools, with a concurrent competition open to New College students. This year's topic was LGBTQ+. The Winners.

This essay competition is open to all undergraduate students in the Oxford Law Faculty, including those who were finalists in the 2022-2023 academic year. Competition entries will be judged by a distinguished panel comprised of the Rt. Hon. Lord Neuberger of Abbotsbury, Antonia Layard and Jonathan Herring.

The winning essay will also be published on the Oxford Law website. A second prize of £250 will be awarded to the runner-up. The terms of the competition have already been sent to all undergraduate students and will also be published on the Faculty's Equality and Diversity site. More information

For the third year running, the Faculty held a summer essay competition for undergraduate students focusing on equality, diversity and inclusion topics. This year's panel was composed of The Rt. Hon. Lord Neuberger of Abbotsbury, Antonia Layard and Jonathan Herring, all of whom were impressed by the standard of the competition.

With a prize of £1,000, essays must be a maximum of 2500 words, and creative interpretation of the traditional supervision essay is welcome.
