Immunity against diseases, better sleep, retention and prevention of memory loss are the other health benefits of sports and games. Sporta bring freshness in our body and mind . We feel energetic by playing sports. Games and sports give a good shape to our muscles. They change the laziness of our body into fresh ness. It is through games and sports only that we can learn how best to overcome the challenge of life.
There are different kinds of games and sports. There are indoor games as cards, chess, ludo ect. Out of the out-door games,Hockey, Football, Volleyball, Cricket, Tennis, etc. are the more common ones. Races, Jumps, Throws, Weight-lifting are some of the other kinds of the sports. MARSEILLE, France (AP) — Fickle winds in Marseille have altered the sailing schedule for the 2024 Olympics for the second time, forcing the postponement of the medal races for one-person dinghies on Tuesday.
Organizers are hoping to run the men’s and women’s races on Wednesday instead.
Through nine grueling regattas for the biggest and most diverse sailing class for the Games — some also postponed and even abandoned in the light winds and high heat — Marit Bouwmeester, 36, of the Netherlands has enough of a lead that she just needs to complete the medal race to win gold. Anne-Marie Rindom, 33, also has a firm grip on the second spot.
The men’s dinghy medal race is still competitive. Matt Wearn, of Australia, the 28-year-old reigning Olympic champion, is in front.
After waiting for a few hours out in the water for the medal race to begin, Rindom said she was disappointed for the fans.
“I feel it’s unfortunate for the spectators,” she said. “I hope they will come again.”
About three dozen fans from her home sailing club in Horsens, Denmark, are in Marseille to cheer her on.
“I’m really proud. Anne-Marie has been a big mentor and inspiration,” said Christian Winker, 23, who sailed with her in Horsens. “I feel like everybody knows Anne-Marie even if they know nothing about sailing.”
Rindom first competed in the 2012 Olympics, and she won bronze in 2016 and gold in Tokyo. But she still felt Marseille was “a really tricky racecourse,” especially in the blistering heat.
Bouwmeester won silver in this class of sailing in London in 2012, followed by gold in Rio and bronze in Tokyo. This is her first Olympics as a mother — her 2-year-old daughter, Jessie Mae, has become a companion for training.
Jessie greeted Bouwmeester with a hug, and they shared a popsicle on the beach after Monday’s race.

Hours before the race was called off, Wearn’s parents, Brad and Karen Wearn, went to the beach to briefly speak with him — a special treat since the COVID-19 pandemic prevented spectators from joining the Games in Tokyo.

The issues of so-called gender verification or sex testing have fueled discussion at the Olympics as the fighters prepare to enter the ring at North Paris Arena.
Khelif, a silver medalist at the 2022 world championships, is scheduled to fight Thursday against Angela Carini of Italy in the welterweight division at 146 pounds. Lin, a two-time world champion, is scheduled to fight Sitora Turdibekova of Uzbekistan in the featherweight division at 126 pounds.
“Yeah, it’s really tricky," Australian boxer Tiana Echegaray told reporters Tuesday when asked about the situation. "I don’t know exactly what their circumstances are."
IOC spokesman Mark Adams indicated Tuesday no personal information about the boxers' medical histories would be disclosed. "They've been competing in boxing for a very long time," Adams told reporters. “They've achieved all the eligibility requirements in terms of sex and age. We're following the rules in place in Tokyo."
At the Summer Olympics, when it comes to gender eligibility, the IOC defers to the international federations that govern each of the 32 sports.
The IOC does provide a framework to the international federations . But it's “nonbinding."
In other words, it’s not up to the IOC. And the situation has grown especially complicated with boxing.
Last year the IOC banished the International Boxing Association (IBA), long plagued with scandal and controversy that jeopardized the future of Olympic boxing. In fact, the IOC denied IBA the right to run Olympic boxing during the Tokyo Games in 2021 and instead turned over control to an ad-hoc unit.

With that ad-hoc unit in charge, Kehlif and Lin both competed at the Tokyo Olympics. Neither won a medal.
But the IBA has maintained control of the world championships and gender eligibility rules. And after Lin won gold and Kehlif won bronze at the event in March 2023, officials announced the boxers had failed medical eligibility tests and stripped them of the medals.
IBA president Umar Kremlev said DNA tests “proved they had XY chromosomes and were thus excluded."
A passport could be key, based on comments from Adams, the IOC spokesman.
“I would just say that everyone competing in the women’s category is complying with the competition eligibility rules," he said. “They are women in their passports and it is stated that is the case.”
Thursday Adams added that the issues with the previous tests for the boxers "was not a transgender issue, there's been some misreporting on that in press. ... These women have been competing as women for many years.
"What I would say just quickly on testosterone is, the testosterone (test) is not a perfect test. Many women can have testosterone, even what would be called 'male levels' and still be women and still compete as women. So this is not a panacea − this idea that suddenly you test, do one test for testosterone. Each sport needs to deal with this issue but I think we agreed, I hope we're agreed, we're not going to go back to the bad old days of 'sex testing'. That would be a bad idea."
In the past, other eligibility standards have hinged on science.
Caster Semenya, a two-time Olympic gold medalist in track and field in 2012 and 2016, was forced to give up competing in the 800 meters because her testosterone levels were too high based on tests administered by World Athletics, the sport’s international federation previously known as the IAAF.
Semenya was assigned female at birth. She said she was told at age 18 that she has XY chromosomes and naturally had high levels of testosterone.
Khelif and Lin have not publicly addressed details of their medical histories regarding the tests.
The issue of eligibility surfaced as a source of controversy in the United States in 2022 when swimmer Lia Thomas became the first openly transgender athlete to win an NCAA championship.
At the time, the NCAA required transgender female athletes to have undergone one year of testosterone suppression treatment to be eligible to compete on a women's team in any sport. The NCAA has been under pressure to update its guidelines after the NAIA banned all transgender athletes from competing in women's sports.
The Court of Arbitration for Sport upheld a decision in June by World Aquatics, the international federation for swimming, that prevented Thomas from competing in elite competitions through World Aquatics or USA Swimming.
Lin, 28, has been fighting as an amateur for more than a decade, according to BoxRec, a widely regarded boxing site.
She made her official amateur debut about three months shy of her 18th birthday, winning at the 2013 AIBA World Women’s Championships. She won gold medals at the world championships in 2019 and 2022.
At 5-foot-9, she often has enjoyed a height advantage while amassing a record of 40-14 with one knockout. The record does not reflect the four fights she won at the 2023 world championships before her disqualification, which resulted in the outcome of the fights being changed to “no contest.’’
She lost her last fight – a split-decision defeat against Brazil’s Jucielen Cerqueira Romeu in April at the 2024 USA Boxing International Invitational in Pueblo, Colorado.
Khelif, 25, made her amateur debut at the 2018 Balkan Women's Tournament. She won a silver medal at the 2022 world championships.
At 5-foot-10, she also has enjoyed a height advantage while amassing a record of 36-9 with four knockouts, according to BoxRec. That does not include the three fights she won at the 2023 world championships before her disqualification resulted in the fights being changed to “no contest.’’
In one of those fights, Khelif stopped her opponent by TKO.

Jackson area teams are preparing for the 2024 TSSAA high school football season .
West Tennessee teams have plenty of intrigue coming off a memorable 2023 season with one team, Riverside, winning a state championship and another, McKenzie, coming up just short in the state championship game. One area athlete, Jackson Christian's Jay'len Mosley , won the 2023 Tennessee Titans Mr. Football award after a remarkable season.
Here are 10 bold predictions for the 2024 TSSAA high school football season in the Jackson area.
Three seasons ago, North Side got into the playoffs and won a game before getting beat by South Gibson. Last season, North Side snuck into the playoffs with a 4-7 record.
Going into the 2024 season, North Side brings back some of its talent from last year, including wide receiver and return man Javonte Smith, and can get back into the playoffs again this season if it can beat the other teams in Jackson and score one more in region play.
Union City, led by Kelan Roberson and Tucker Davis, is going to be strong in its second season back in Class 1A after a deep run last year, which was cut off by a high-powered Dresden team. This year will be the same, Dresden hopes to reload quickly with Cooper Allman and Jawaun Ellison after graduating a several players along the offense which propelled the Lions to the state semifinals.
Dresden swept the two matchups last year, the first by three points in region play and the other by 20 in the state quarterfinals. When these teams meet in the playoffs, the Golden Tornadoes will be celebrating a victory.
The Chargers are going to be young in 2024, even with a potential freshman starting quarterback in Graham Simpson . But the offense is going to have another big season behind the strength of Dontez Joy and Malik Smith and gets into the playoffs to make another run.
Last year’s run was ended by a three-point Dyersburg victory, a much closer game than the 30-0 Trojan win in the regular season. Westview will use its offense and an equally talented defense to get into the Class 3A quarterfinals.
USJ, led by Corben Howard, Mills Terry and Noah Spencer, is going to be one of those sneaky teams this season after a 7-5 season in 2023 with a 6-4 record in the regular season. The DII-AA West Region may be a bit down this year and could be a great opportunity for the Bruins to slide through and get to the championship game for the first time since 2020.
The Bruins’ schedule is tough with non-region games against some of the top teams in West Tennessee, which may help them prepare for the other top teams from around the state and shocks some of the best in Division II.
Kalen Edwards hopes to have a stellar senior season for the Trojans after committing to Kentucky over the summer. Dyersburg had one of its more memorable seasons in 2023, going 13-1 with the one loss coming in the Class 3A state semifinal to East Nashville. The Trojans didn’t allow a point for a month with three straight shutouts.
Dyersburg has a tough three-game stretch on the road to open the season but should be able to get through the regular season, win another region championship and ride its defense through the playoffs and get to the state title game.
South Gibson is a question mark in Class 4A. The Hornets have a lot of talent coming back this season, including defensive back Cade Beaver and lineman Yahya Gaad, after going 8-3 in 2023 with a loss in the first round of the playoffs to Station Camp.
The Hornets’ will lose one game in 2024, the region opener against Hardin County in Week 3. From there, though, the Hornets will show their offensive strength and get through their regular season schedule at 9-1 and continue to beat up on 4A opponents to get to their first quarterfinals since 2021.
This rivalry usually produces a team to make a deep run in the playoffs, if not both. Huntingdon got big performances from Brady Warbritton and Gray Eubanks to win “The Dog and Pony Show” rivalry last season and earned a second win in the Class 2A second round, both by double digits.
Both the Bulldogs and Mustangs will make the 2024 TSSAA playoffs and will meet up once again with hopes to send their rival packing. A prediction: Huntingdon wins both games again this year.
Riverside graduated a majority of its top players from the 2023 Class 2A state championship . Guys like Desmond Thomas, Stone Wallace, Parker Wilks are gone. Now, the Panthers have to rely on guys coming up but have the championship experience the program needs.
However, Region 6-2A is loaded once again this season. Some of the other teams in the region just have more experience than Riverside and the Panthers are going to make the playoffs with their tenacious defense, but get beat early.

Jay’len Mosley was one of the best players in the state in 2023, of course showcased by his selection as the Tennessee Titans Mr. Football winner for Division II-A. Mosley broke Jackson Christian records for receiving yards (1,482) and touchdowns (26) last season.
Still dealing with a patellar tendon injury , Mosley hopes to come back even stronger and follow up his remarkable junior season with an even better senior season to show what he’s all about before going to play college football. Mosley will become the first repeat winner of the award since Peabody’s Khalik Ganaway won in 2020-21.
The Tomcats and Rebels are going to be the top teams in the area, if not the state for their respective classifications, by the time the 2024 season is complete. Both will also be bringing a gold ball back to West Tennessee.
Haywood is athletic and has high-level talent all over the field with guys like Caden Harris and Kemonte Williams and it has the playoff experience with a run to the Class 4A state semifinals last season. The Rebels bring back star quarterback, Tate Surber, who helped guide the team to its third title game in a row and will avenge their loss last season to win a state title.

An Italian boxer abandoned her bout at the Paris Olympics after only 46 seconds on Thursday, refusing to continue after taking a heavy punch from an Algerian opponent who had been disqualified from last year’s world championships over questions about her eligibility to compete in women’s sports.
The Italian boxer, Angela Carini, withdrew after her Algerian opponent, Imane Khelif, landed a powerful blow that struck Carini square in the face. Carini paused for a moment, then turned her back to Khelif and walked to her corner. Her coaches quickly signaled that she would not continue, and the referee stopped the fight.
Khelif, 25, was permitted to compete at the Olympics even though she had been barred last year after boxing officials said she did not meet eligibility requirements to compete in a women’s event. Another athlete also barred from last year’s world championships under similar circumstances, Lin Yu-ting, has also been cleared to fight in Paris.
The International Boxing Association, which ran those championships and ordered the disqualifications, offered little insight into the reasons for the boxers’ removal, saying in a statement that the disqualifications came after “the athletes did not undergo a testosterone examination but were subject to a separate and recognized test .”
The association said that test, the specifics of which it said were confidential, “conclusively indicated that both athletes did not meet the required necessary eligibility criteria and were found to have competitive advantages over other female competitors.”
Those rules, which the boxing association adopted for the 2016 Rio Games, are the same ones the International Olympic Committee is operating under as the authority running the boxing tournament at the Paris Games. But the rules, the I.O.C. confirmed, do not include language about testosterone or restrictions on gender eligibility beyond a single line saying “gender tests may be conducted.”
