Pakistani has some of the most genius and bravest individuals who were not afraid of standing up to the world, and their selfless devotion made Pakistan what it is today.

In this blog, we will be talking about the inspiring personalities of Pakistan who steadfast our country’s name in different fields.

Abdul Sattar Edhi

Abdul Sattar Edhi was, is, and will always be the pride of Pakistan. The list of what he did for Pakistan and other countries in the world is enormously long, and it is impossible to cover his whole journey in a paragraph.

Edhi Sahab was a philanthropist, social activist, and probably among the best humanitarians in the world. Abdul Sattar Edhi started the Edhi foundation in 1951, it runs the world’s largest network of volunteer ambulances.

Edhi foundation is home to hundreds of orphans and women as it successfully runs an orphanage, women’s shelter, and nursing homes. It’s one of the best NGOs in Pakistan that also has food kitchens and rehabilitation centres to entertain mentally ill patients and addicts.

He passed away in 2016.

Imran Khan is among the most inspiring personalities of Pakistan. He has always inspired the youth of Pakistan with his sense of conviction and devotion. People of all ages idolize him and for his intellect and personality.

He is the only Pakistani cricket team captain who brought the World Cup to Pakistan by leading the team. With the prize money he received, he opened a Cancer hospital known as “Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital.” More than 75% of patients at this hospital get free Cancer treatment.

In 1996 he joined politics leading his own campaign called “Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.” After a long and tiring journey of 22 years, he finally became the Prime Minister of Pakistan as people realized his struggle and hard work for the country.

Arfa Abdul Karim Randhawa became the youngest Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) in 2004. She was a child prodigy, and her achievements are surely praiseworthy.

Her name was added to the Guinness Book of World Records, and she kept the title of youngest MCP until 2008.

One of her achievements was the highest literary award in Pakistan, the “Presidential Pride of Performance” in 2005. When Arfa was just 10 years old, she was invited by Bill Gates himself to visit Microsoft headquarters.

Arfa made Pakistan proud and brought a lot of positivity to the country. Sadly Arfa passed away in 2012 when she was only 16 years old. She had a fatal cardiac arrest which she could not fight against.

Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan

Abdul Qadeer Khan is most definitely a national hero because of his contribution to our country. Dr. A.Q Khan is a nuclear scientist and a metallurgical engineer who developed nuclear weapons for Pakistan and made our country proud.

He is generally credited for developing gas centrifuge enrichment technology for Pakistan’s nuclear capability. Qadeer Khan successfully and responsibly led the nuclear program of Pakistan for almost 25 years.

He is awarded the most prestigious awards in Pakistan like Hilal-i-Imtiaz in 1989 and Nishan-i-Imtiaz in 1996 and 1999. Known as the “ Father of Pakistan’s Nuclear Bomb ,” he’s among the most celebrated Pakistanis and will remain because of his achievements.

If it weren’t for his hard work and conviction Pakistan wouldn’t have the power it has today. Although we never want to be in a scenario to use our nuclear weapons but having the technology certainly puts us in a better position.

Jahangir Khan

Jahangir Khan is a world-renowned squash player from Pakistan. He was the former No.1 professional squash player. Jahangir is known to be the greatest squash player the world has ever seen.

His achievements include 6 World Open Championships and 10 British Open Championships. He has 6 gold, 3 silver, and 2 bronze medals to his names.

Jahangir retired as a player in 1993 and became the president of the World Squash Federation from 2002-2008. He is now the Emeritus President of the World Squash Federation.

Jahangir Khan brought fame to Pakistan because of all the right reasons, and it is because of him that a game like squash became a sensation in Pakistan.

Benazir Bhutto

Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto was the very first democratically elected female Prime Minister of Pakistan and other Islamic states worldwide.

She inherited her leadership qualities from her father Zulfikar Ali Bhutto who was the leader of the Pakistan People’s Party and a former PM of Pakistan.

After Zulfikar Ali Bhutto died, Benazir Bhutto took over and led the political party until the time of her death in 2007. She faced and got through all the highs and lows you could imagine.

Benazir Bhutto resided in the office twice. She was the PM in 1988-1990 and then again in 1993-1997. Inspired certainly millions of women all over the world, her struggle is an inspiration in itself.

She was assassinated by a gunshot in 2007 during her election campaign rally and left millions of followers behind.

Dr Naweed Syed

Dr Syed is a globally renowned scientist and researcher of Pakistani descent and the Department of Cell Biology and Anatomy director at Canada’s Hotchkiss Brain Institute at the University of Calgary.

He was the very first scientist to ‘attach brain cells to a silicon chip.’ This is undoubtedly a tremendous achievement for Pakistan.

Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan

He was a middle-order batsman best known for his composed playing though he was also capable of being an aggressive big shot player when required. He holds the record for the fastest fifty in test cricket.

Islamic scholar and philosopher Abul A'la Maududi was born into an elite Aurangabad family. He grew up to be fundamentalist who believed Islam should be free of Western influences and launched the Jamaʿat-i Islami . One of the Pakistan’s Best Hero and National Hero is the Dr. Mohammad Ali Jinnah because he is the Founder of Pakistan, The credit of the combined struggle for the independence of Pakistan exclusively goes to him. Jinnah has served as a leader of All India Muslim League. Today his Birthday is celebrated as a national day of Pakistan. He is known as Baba-e-Qaum (Father of the Nation) and Quaid-e-Azam (The greatest leader).

2. Dr. Allama Mohammad Iqbal:

Dr. Allama Mohammad Iqbal is Our National Poet and he was best poet. He was born in November 9, 1877 and he was died in April 21, 1938, also known as Allama Iqbal , was a philosopher, poet and politician in British India who is widely regarded as having inspired the Pakistan Movement. He is considered one of the most important figures in Urdu literature, with literary work in both the Urdu and Persian languages.

3. Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan:

He, was born on 1 April 1936, also known by some in Pakistan as Mohsin-e-Pakistan lit. “Benefactor of Pakistan”, more popularly known as Dr. A. Q. Khan, is a Pakistani nuclear scientist and a metallurgical engineer, colloquially regarded as the founder of HEU based Gas-centrifuge uranium enrichment program for Pakistan’s integrated atomic bo-mb project.Dr Qadeer Khan died on 10 October 2024 at age of 85 year. Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan is the 3rd top hero of Pakistan.

Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan, born on April 1, 1936, in Bhopal, India, was a renowned Pakistani metallurgist and nuclear scientist. He was among those who migrated to Pakistan in 1947 with their families. Khan is widely regarded as the “Father of Islamic Nuclear Bo-mb” or founder of gas-centrifuge enrichment technology for Pakistan’s nuclear deterrent program as he developed the Muslim world’s first atomic bo-mb.

He acquired his engineering degree from a university in the Netherlands in 1967 and later went on to secure a doctorate in metallurgical engineering from Belgium. Dr Khan was the first Pakistani was awarded three presidential awards. He has been awarded the Nishan-e-Imtiaz (Order of Excellence) twice and the Hilal-e-Imtiaz (Crescent of Excellence) once.

4. Nawabzada Liaquat Ali Khan:

Liaquat Ali Khan was in 1st October 1895 and he was died on 16 October 1951, often simply referred as Liaquat, was one of the leading Founding Fathers of modern Pakistan, statesman, lawyer, and political theorist who became and served as the first Prime Minister of Pakistan, in addition, was also the first Defense minister he was the first Finance Minister of India, and minister of Commonwealth and Kashmir Affairs and from 1947 until his assassination in 1951.

5. Dr. Samar Mubarak Mand:

Dr. Samar Mubarak Mand was born in 17th September 1942 and he is a Pakistani Nuclear Physicist known for the Research in Gamma Spectroscopy and Experimental Development of the Linear Accelerator. He came to public attention as the director of the team responsible for the performing the country’s first and successful atomic tests in the Chagai weapon testing laboratories, located in the Balochistan Province of Pakistan.

6. Fatima Jinnah:

Fatima Jinnah was the sister of Qauid-E-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah who was that founder of Pakistan. She was a Dental Surgeon, Jinnah after obtaining a dental degree from University of Calcutta, she became a close associate and an adviser to her older brother Muhammad Ali Jinnah who latter became the first Governor General of Pakistan.

7. Abdus Sattar Edhi:

Dr. Abdul Sattar Edhi is a prominent Pakistani philanthropist, social activist and humanitarian. He is the founder and head of the Edhi Foundation, a non-profit social welfare organization in Pakistan. Edhi Foundation is the largest and most organized social welfare system in Pakistan. Foundation works round the clock, without any discrimination on the basis of color, race, language, religion or politics.

8. Dr. Abdus Salam:

Mohammad Abdus Salam, was born in 29 January 1926 and He was died on 21 November 1996 was a theoretical physicist who, when he shared the 1979 Nobel Prize in Physics for his contribution to electroweak unification, became the first and only Pakistani to receive a Nobel Prize and also the first Muslim to win a Nobel Prize in science.

9. Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto:

Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was a Pakistani politician and statesman who served as the 9th Prime Minister of Pakistan from 1973 to 1977, and prior to that as the 4th President of Pakistan from 1971 to 1973.He is revered in Pakistan as Quaid-i-Awam.

Benazir Bhutto

Benazir Bhutto was definitely the most empowered woman Pakistan has seen in its history. Challenging the status quo, raising her voice on the oppression against women, her contributions are indelible. Elected as the first female Prime Minister at the age of 35 – she quickly became the representation the women of the country needed.

Benazir Bhutto has penned several books where she spoke about the struggles of women in Pakistan. Here are some of our favourite picks:

We now have women like her to look up to – but Asma did not have anyone but her strength and resilience. During her school days, she demanded the head girl be elected through democracy- instead of the nuns choosing the head girl of the school.

Even threats did not stop the activist from fighting the good fight:

As a lawyer, many a time I took up difficult and sensitive cases dealing with minorities’ and women’s rights. Yes, I constantly receive threats, and to be very honest, at times it is very scary. But I have to continue my work.

On Benazir Bhutto:

Fortunately, when Benazir Bhutto was prime minister, she banned public whipping of women – banned whipping of women, period, which is a marvelous thing she did.

Fahmida Riaz

It would be unfair to talk about the leading feminists of Pakistan and not mention Fahmida Riaz. The progressive Urdu writer, poet, and human rights activist faced 10 criminal charges against her. However, that did not stop her from standing up for what she believed in.

Because of her work against the dictatorship, she had to flee to India to seek asylum. Fahmida Riaz and her family spent 7 years in exile. However, that did not stop her from achieving great success in her career. Fahmida received several awards for her work as a poet and a social activist.

Just like every other country, Pakistan is represented by its power icons who worked diligently to become the country’s true pride. Even if most of them are no longer among us, their contributions have remained valuable throughout the history of our nation.

As one article could not complete the list so we have a few icons listed among the shining stars who have made Pakistan proud by their devotion and loyalty.

Quaid e Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah

It would have been impossible for Muslims of India to live in a free atmosphere had Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah not stood for an independent state. He fought for independence when the British were adamant that they would not divide one country into two, yet he achieved the mission with his will and determination. He not only battled his Hindu counterparts, Gandhi and Nehru, but also an illness that he kept secret from his friends so that Pakistan becomes a reality. He served as the first Governor-General of the newly created state before his death a month after the country’s first birthday. No prominent figure has ever held as much authority as the Quaid.

Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbal

Long before the creation of Pakistan, Mohammad Ali Jinnah left Indian National Congress and the Indian subcontinent for England, vowing never to come back. The one person who convinced him to return and shared his ‘dream’ of a separate Muslim state was Allama Iqbal. The renowned poet, intellectual and above all, a political leader not only motivated his fellow countrymen with his poems but also helped them understand why a separate country is better than living in a United India. Sadly, he passed away a decade before Pakistan’s creation, but his efforts resulted in the independence of both Pakistan and India, and we must thank him every time we breathe in a free environment.

Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan

It was because of Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan that Pakistan is a nuclear power today. In 1976, he carried out a successful atomic experiment, which was a significant and crucial invention for Pakistan. He has also earned several honours and distinctions, the most famous of which is Pakistan’s highest civil award , the Nishan-i-Imtiaz (Crescent of Excellence), which he got twice, making him the first Pakistani to do so.

Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan

We didn’t have a Bocelli or Pavarotti in Pakistan at the time, nor did we have our own Beatles or Led Zeppelin, but it didn’t matter because we had the legendary maestro Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. He inherited a 600-year-old Qawwali legacy from his forebears, eventually becoming the Shahanshah-e-Qawwali (The King of Qawwali). Fateh has won several awards, including the Pride of Performance (1987), the UNESCO Music Prize (1995), and the Grand Prix des Ameriques at the Montreal World Film Festival in 1996 for outstanding contributions to the art of film. In 2005, he received the Legends Award at the UK Asian Music Awards. Ustad Nusrat is undoubtedly the greatest qawwali singer in the world and has left his music as his legacy.

Abdus Sattar Edhi

A humanitarian and philanthropist from Pakistan, Abdul Sattar Edhi was one person who gathered love and respect from around the world. In a nation that is often divided by ethnic and religious strife, Edhi won hearts from every stratum of society. The late philanthropist founded the Edhi Foundation, which includes the world’s largest volunteer ambulance network, as well as shelters and orphanages. Known as the “Angel of Mercy”, he is regarded as the country’s most revered and legendary person.

Dr Abdus Salam

Abdus Salam was a Pakistani physicist who, along with Sheldon Glashow and Steven Weinberg, got the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1979 for his contribution to the electroweak theory. He was a founding director of SUPARCO and worked as a science consultant to the Pakistani government. Addressed as one of the world’s best theoretical physicists of the 20th century, he is the recipient of several prizes and accolades and therefore is Pakistan’s very first Nobel Laureate. Dr Salam was the first Pakistani and the first from a Muslim nation who became a Fellow of the Royal Society London.

Liaquat Ali Khan

He was not just the trusted lieutenant of Mohammad Ali Jinnah but also served as the country’s first Prime Minister. He was one of the few prominent Muslim politicians who brought over their experience when they migrated to Pakistan and was instrumental in drafting the Objective Resolution that served as the basis of the country’s constitution. He was martyred on 16th October 1951 in Rawalpindi while addressing a public gathering, but not before steering the newly-created state in the right direction.

Jahangir Khan

Widely regarded as the greatest squash player of all time, Khan set the bar so high that it’s almost impossible to suppress his achievements. Jahangir was the World No. 1 during his incredible career, winning the World Open six times and the British Open a record 10 times. He remained unbeaten from 1981 until 1986, winning 555 straight matches, He was nicknamed “The Conqueror” because of his total supremacy in squash. In 2005, Time magazine named Jahangir as one of their Asian Heroes of the last 60 years, and the accompanying article read, “If winning is everything, then Khan is the greatest. Period.”

National Heroes of Pakistan

Every country has its own national heroes which have played the vital role in the existence of the country and its glory. Here I have also prepared a list of National Heroes of Pakistan. Pakistan is also a country which has numerous national heroes who have worked tirelessly for the success, respect and the dignity of the country. The national heroes can be leader, politicians, sports person or even soldiers which have played their role in the success of the country. Pakistan was independent on 14th August 1947 but before that there was not an existence of a separate country for Muslims in the world. There were so many heroes who played their role in the formation of Pakistan. Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan

Indian Born Abdul Qadeer Khan was immigrated to Islamabad Pakistan in 1952 with his family. He is a Pakistani Nuclear Physicist and Metallurgical engineer. He has done a great job for the safety of Pakistan. He found the nuclear atomic bomb in 1976 at Kahuta Research Laboratories (KRL). It was really a great invention by Pakistan after the successful experiment of this bomb. Since this invention the other outer critics who are Pakistan’s haters are now in their limits because they are afraid of Atomic attack by Pakistan. She worked on the principles of her father Zukfiqar Ali Bhutto who himself was an influential and great leader of Pakistan. This International Women’s Day, let’s take a quick look at all the wonderful achievements of Pakistani women here and around the world. These women make us proud with their unwavering strength, dedication and efforts in being experts in their respective professional fields, and today is the perfect time to celebrate them and their accomplishments.

1. Ayesha Malik – Supreme Court Judge

In a landmark decision, Pakistan swore in Ayesha Malik as its first female Supreme Court judge. Malik is also known for her ground-breaking ruling last January for abolishing the two-finger virginity test that was previously performed on victims of sexual violence and assault during rape exams.

2. Perniya Khan – Table Tennis Champion

Perniya Zaman Khan (18-years-old) has become Pakistan’s table tennis champion. The masterful WAPDA player claimed the title by defeating former National Champion Aisya Sherjeeal, also from WAPDA, in the thrilling 4-3 final.

3. Zara Naeem Dar – ACCA Topper

5. Dr Zubaida Sirang – Made it to the Book Authority List

An eye surgeon from Chitral, Dr Zubaira Sirang made headlines for becoming the first-ever Pakistani author to have her work featured on the prestigious Book Authority List. Her book Optics Made Easy: The Last Review of Clinical Optics (written for ophthalmology students as a last-minute revision tool) was included in the list of ‘Best Ophthalmology Books of All Time.'

6. Saira Malik – CIO of Nuveen

A Pakistani American, Saira Malik has been appointed as chief investment officer (CIO) of “Nuveen”, a leading global asset management firm. Malik drives weekly market and investment insights of Nuveen’s $1.2 trillion fund. Not only that, as Chair of the Equities Investment Council (EIC), she authors a quarterly market commentary. Malik is also the lead portfolio manager for more than $120 billion CREF Stock strategy and a listed portfolio manager for over $30 billion CREF Growth and over $20 billion CREF Global Equities strategies. She also serves as the sole manager of a $5 billion global equity portfolio.

7. Nigar Johar – Three-star colonel commandant, AMC

Lieutenant General Nigar Johar has become Pakistan’s first ever three-star female general to be appointed the colonel commandant of Army Medical Corps (AMC). She has been decorated with Tamgha-i- Imtiaz (Military) and is also the recipient of Fatima Jinnah Gold Medal for laudable services in Army Medical Corps from the prime minister of Pakistan. She has also received the Hilal-i-Imtiaz.

8. Shazia Parveen – Pakistan’s first female fighter

Shazia Parveen is the first female fire fighter of rescue unit 1122 in Vehari (near Multan), and the first female fire fighter in Pakistan.

9. Sana Mir – Cricket icon

Sana Mir has been the face of Pakistan women’s cricket for many years. Mir took the top spot in women’s ODI rankings in 2018. She has played 226 international matches, including 137 as captain, since her debut in 2005. She is one of only nine women cricketers to have taken 100 ODI wickets and among only five women players to score 1,000 runs in ODI matches. She was ranked ninth among bowlers and the most successful female spinner at when she retired at 34.

10. Dr Sarah Qureshi – Aerospace engineer

Dr Sarah Qureshi is a Pakistani aerospace engineer who is developing the world’s first contrail-free aircraft engine to reduce aviation-induced global warming and make air travel environmentally safe.

11. Karishma Ali – Football player, Entrepreneur

Karishma Ali, 22-years-old, is the first ever female from Chitral to have played national and international football. She has been named among Forbes’ 30 under 30. Ali is also the founder of the Chitral Women’s Sports Club – a training school for girls which aims to encourage other young girls in the region to take up sports and activities. Her initiative to set up a handicraft centre in Chitral led her to take part in Milan Fashion Week where she represented Pakistan’s unique embroidery.

12. Sana Amanat – Cartoon artist, Activist

An American with Pakistani origins, Sana Amanat is the Director of Content and Character Development at Marvel Entertainment. Her most celebrated idea of creating Kamala Khan aka Ms Marvel, one of the comic book giant's newer superheroes – a teenaged, Muslim, American girl. Amanat is known for breaking stereotypes and believes in developing more inclusive characters in comics, in particular, movies, films and books.

13. Ayesha Gul – First female police officer posted as AIG

For the first time in the history of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), a female police officer has been posted as the assistant inspector general (AIG). Ayesha Gul, originally from Swabi, became the first woman in the provincial police force to achieve this honour. As AIG Gender Equality, Gul vows to work towards the protection of the rights of women, transgender persons and children.

14. Laraib Atta – Hollywood VFX artist, Oscar nominee

Laraib Atta has recently been making headlines for her Oscar and BAFTA nominations as part of the visual effects team for James Bond film No Time To Die. The Hollywood VFX artist is known for some amazing work which includes movies like The Chronicles of Narnia , Godzilla , and X-Men: Days of Future Past . She has previously been a part of the Nike football commercial, Olympics promotions and Disney commercials and some TV series for British Television like BBC , ITV and Sky .

15. Arooj Aftab – First Pakistani artist to perform at Coachella

Arooj Aftab will be the first Pakistani artist to perform at Coachella this year, the world’s largest American art and music festival.

16. Dr Sara Gill – Physician and transgender activist

Dr Sara Gill has become Pakistan’s first transgender doctor as she secures a house job at Karachi's Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC). Dr Gill vows to advocate for the security of the Trans community, particularly when it comes to educational rights and opportunities. Her future plans include completing a Fellowship of the College of Physicians and Surgeons in Endocrinology (study of hormones) in an attempt to include health related issues faced by transgenders in the country’s medical curriculum to make sure they are treated appropriately.

10 leaders who played pivotal roles in Pakistan Movement

Pakistan’s movement for independence in the first half of the 20th century was an important struggle at the world scale that succeeded in carving out a new country from British India in the Muslim-majority areas without any violence.

Several extra-ordinary individuals played their roles to bring a dream of a new state of Pakistan into reality in August 1947 under the leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the Father of the Nation.

Muhammad Ali Jinnah

Muhammad Ali Jinnah born in Karachi on 25 December 1876, was a barrister who led the All-India Muslim League until emergence of Pakistan as a new country on the face of the world on 14 August 1947, and then as Pakistan’s first Governor-General until his death on September 11, 1948.

Jinnah on his return to India after education in London took an interest in national politics and rose to prominence.

In the early years of his political career, he advocated Hindu–Muslim unity and was termed as the ambassador of unity. He helped to shape the 1916 Lucknow Pact between All-India Muslim League and the Congress.

Jinnah when in Congress, remained an influential voice and worked to bring the League and the Congress together. In 1916 he brought the two parties on one page to sign the Lucknow Pact, setting quotas for Muslim and Hindu representation in various provinces.

The pact was never fully implemented, yet its signing ushered the two parties in a period of political cooperation and collaboration.

He became a key leader in the All India Home Rule League, and proposed a fourteen-point constitutional reform plan to safeguard the political rights of Muslims in British India.

He parted his way from the Congress in 1920. By 1940 Jinnah had come to believe that Muslims of the Indian subcontinent should have their own separate state. In that year, the Muslim League, led by Jinnah, passed the Lahore Resolution, demanding a separate state.

The Muslim League during the Second World War gained grassroot momentum in Muslims and in the elections held shortly after the war, it won most of the seats reserved for Muslims.

The Congress and the Muslim League could not reach to a power-sharing formula for the subcontinent to be united as a single state, leading all parties to agree to the independence of a predominantly Hindu India, and a Muslim-majority state of Pakistan.

Jinnah worked to establish the government and policies of the new country as the first Governor-General of Pakistan.

He helped millions of Muslim migrants who had migrated from Indian territories to Pakistan after independence.

He died in September 1948, just over a year after Pakistan gained independence when the new country needed him most as a statesman and guiding light to move ahead on the path of a bright democratic future.

Allama Iqbal

Iqbal was a poet, philosopher and thinker. He has been called the “Thinker of Pakistan” for his vision of the country and ideological contribution to the new state that emerged after his death.

Iqbal’s poems, political contributions and academic and scholarly research were distinguished, which inspired the movement for Pakistan. He wrote poetry in both Urdu and Persian.

While studying law and philosophy in England, Iqbal joined the London chapter of the All-India Muslim League.

During the League’s December 1930 session, he delivered a speech, known as the Allahabad Address, in which he described the contours of a separate Muslim majority state in north-western parts of British India.

Iqbal received recognition in his home province Punjab after his return from England. When the All-India Muslim League was being organized on the provincial level, Iqbal was made one of three joint secretaries of the party. While dividing his time between law practice and poetry, Iqbal remained active in the Muslim League.

In November 1926, Iqbal contested election for a seat in the Punjab Legislative Assembly from the district of Lahore, and won the election.

He supported the constitutional proposals proposed by Muhammad Ali Jinnah to guarantee Muslim political rights.

Ideologically opposite to the Muslim leaders of Congress party, Iqbal was also discontented over factions in League and came to believe that only Jinnah was a political leader capable of preserving unity and fulfilling the League’s objectives of Muslim political empowerment.

Building a strong, personal rapport with Jinnah, Iqbal is said to be influenced Jinnah in convincing him to return from London to India to lead the Muslim League.

In a letter to Jinnah, he wrote, “I know you are a busy man, but I do hope you won’t mind my writing to you often, as you are the only Muslim in India today to whom the community has right to look up for safe guidance through the storm which is coming to North-West India and, perhaps, to the whole of India”.

Iqbal came with the idea of a separate Muslim-majority state in northwestern regions of India in 1930, his correspondence with Jinnah is termed by some historians as having been responsible for Jinnah’s owning the idea of Pakistan.

Iqbal worked constantly to encourage Muslim leaders and masses to support Jinnah and the League.

Sir Sultan Mohammad Shah Aga Khan

Sir Sultan Mohammad Shah, Aga Khan III was one of the founders and the first president of the All-India Muslim League (AIML), the party that guided the Muslims of the subcontinent to the cherished goal of a separate state.

Sir Aga Khan worked for the advancement of Muslims and the protection of Muslim rights in India. The Muslim League, until the late 1930s was not a large political party with popular support.

Aga Khan shared the belief that Muslims should first build up their social strength through advanced education before engaging in politics. He called on the British rulers of India to consider Muslims to be a separate nation within the country.

He remained president of Muslim League till 1912 and also remained a major influence on the party’s policies and agendas afterwards.

He was nominated to represent British India to the League of Nations in 1932 and served as President of the League of Nations in 1937–38.

Sir Sultan Mohammad Shah, at the age of seven, succeeded his father as Imam of the Isma’ili Muslims. He travelled in distant parts of the world to meet his followers, with the objective of either settling differences or advancing their welfare.

During the three Round Table Conferences in London from 1930–32, he played an important role to bring constitutional reforms in British India.

In 1934, he was made a member of the Privy Council and served as a member of the League of Nations (1934–37), becoming the President of the League of Nations in 1937.

He was said to be influenced by the views of Sir Sayyid Ahmad Khan and was one of the backers of the Aligarh University. He can be deemed an Islamic modernist and an intellectual. He believed there to be no contradiction between religion and modernity and urged Muslims to embrace modernity. He was intellectually open to Western philosophy and ideas and believed that engagement with them could lead to a revival and renaissance within Islamic thought.

Liaquat Ali Khan

Liaquat Ali Khan became the first Prime Minister of Pakistan and also held cabinet portfolios of foreign affairs, defence and the frontier regions from 1947 until his assassination on October 16, in 1951.

Liaquat Ali Khan was born in Karnal, in Punjab and was educated at the Aligarh Muslim University, and later at Oxford University. He returned to India in 1923 from London.

He cherished parliamentary democracy and joined the Muslim League advocating redressal of injustices and mis-treatment meted out to Indian Muslims by the British colonial rulers.

He assisted Jinnah in campaigning for the creation of a separate state for Muslims in the subcontinent.

Khan embarked on his parliamentary career, representing the United Provinces (UP) at the Legislative Council in 1926. He was elected to the provisional legislative council in the elections from the rural Muslim constituency of Muzzaffarnagar.

He remained the elected member of the UP Legislative Council until 1940, when he was elected to the Central Legislative Assembly.

In April 1936, in a Muslim League session, Liaquat Ali Khan named the honorary general secretary of the party. He held the office till the establishment of Pakistan in 1947.

In 1940, Khan was made deputy leader of the Muslim League parliamentary party.

The Pakistan Resolution was adopted in 1940 at the Lahore session of the Muslim League. The same year elections were held for the central legislative assembly in which Liaquat Ali Khan won from the Barielly constituency without contest.

In 1945–46 elections Liaquat Ali Khan won the Central Legislature election from the Meerut Constituency in the UP. The Muslim League won most of the seats reserved for Muslims.

He assisted Jinnah in negotiations with the members of the Cabinet Mission and the leaders of the Congress during the final phase of the freedom movement and it was decided that an interim government would be formed comprising of members of the Congress, the Muslim League and minority leaders.

Muslim League sent five of its nominees led by Liaquat Ali Khan, for representation in the interim government. He was given the portfolio of finance in the interim administration.

The other four men nominated by the League were Ibrahim Ismail Chundrigar, Ghazanfar Ali Khan, Abdur Rab Nishtar, and Jogendra Nath Mandal.

The British government and the Indian National Congress had both accepted the idea of Pakistan and on 14 August 1947, Pakistan became a reality.

His influence grew further as prime minister of the new country after Jinnah’s death in September 1948.

Liaquat Ali Khan is also said to be the major influence behind the promulgation of the Objectives Resolution.

In October 1951, at a political rally in Rawalpindi, he was assassinated by a gunman.

Chaudhry Rahmat Ali

Chaudhry Rahmat Ali was one of the earliest proponents of the creation of the state of Pakistan.

He is credited with suggesting the name “Pakistan” for a separate Muslim homeland in South Asia.

Rahmat Ali introduced the name when he was a law student at the University of Cambridge in 1933, in the form of a pamphlet “Now or Never; Are We to Live or Perish Forever?”.

The pamphlet was addressed to the British and Indian delegates to the Third Round Table Conference in London.

The idea, however, did not find support with the delegates or any of the politicians for around a decade. By 1940, the Muslim politics in the subcontinent came around to accept the idea, leading to the Lahore Resolution of the All-India Muslim League, which was immediately dubbed the “Pakistan Resolution”.

Rehmat Ali was born in November 1897 in the town of Balachaur in the Hoshiarpur District of Punjab. His relatives migrated to Lyallpur (Faisalabad). After graduating from Islamia College Lahore in 1918, he taught at Aitchison College Lahore before joining the Punjab University to study law.

In 1930 he moved to England to join Emmanuel College Cambridge. He obtained a BA degree in 1933 and MA in 1940 from the University of Cambridge.

He published his historic pamphlet, “Now or Never”, in 1933, coining the word Pakistan for the first time.

Rahmat Ali finished education in England, obtaining MA and LLB with honours from the universities of Cambridge and Dublin.

In 1946, he founded the Pakistan National Movement in England. Until 1947, he continued publishing various booklets about his vision for South Asia.

In a pamphlet he said, “Our religion and culture, our history and tradition, our social code and economic system, our laws of inheritance, succession and marriage are fundamentally different from those of most peoples living in the rest of India. The ideals which move our people to make the highest sacrifices are essentially different from those which inspire the Hindus to do the same. These differences are not confined to broad, basic principles. They extend to the minutest details of our lives. We do not inter-dine, we do not inter-marry. Our national customs and calendars, even our diet and dress are different.”

Fatima Jinnah

Fatima Jinnah, popularly called Madar-e-Millat (mother of the nation) was the youngest sister of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

She was close to Muhammad Ali Jinnah who became her guardian after the death of their father in 1901.

She is remembered for her passionate support for civil rights and her devoted struggle in the movement for Pakistan.

Mohammad Ali Jinnah was deeply affected after his wife’s death in 1929, so Fatima Jinnah worked side by side with him and organized the women of the sub-continent on a single platform which made the struggle for gaining a separate state of Muslims easier.

After obtaining a dental degree from University of Calcutta in 1923, she became a close associate and an adviser to her brother, Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

She remained the closest aide to Jinnah and played an important role in the Pakistan Movement, supporting the two-nation theory while opposing the British colonial rule.

After the independence of Pakistan, she co-founded the Pakistan Women’s Association which played a pivotal role in rehabilitation of the women migrants from India in the new-born country.

She returned to the political forefront to contest the 1964 presidential election at the advanced age of 71 against Ayub Khan.

She was backed by a coalition of opposition political parties. Despite her defeat amid allegations of rigging, she won two of Pakistan’s largest cities, Karachi and Dhaka.

She died in Karachi on July 09, 1967, and was laid to rest next to her brother at Mazar-e-Quaid.

Abul Kasem Fazlul Huq, popularly known as Sher-e-Bengal was a key figure in the Pakistan Movement, widely remembered for presenting Pakistan Resolution.

He was first elected to the Bengal Legislative Council from Dhaka in 1913 and served on the council for 21 years. He remained a member of the Central Legislative Assembly for 2 years, between 1934 and 1936. He remained an elected member of the Bengal Legislative Assembly for 10 years from 1937 to 1947, where he also held the office of Prime Minister.

He remained a member of the Constituent Assembly of Pakistan, where he held the office of Home Minister for 1 year, in the 1950s.

He boycotted titles and knighthood awarded by the British government. He was notable for his English oratory during speeches to the Bengal legislature.

Fazlul Huq courted the votes of the Bengali middle classes and rural communities. He pushed for land reforms and curbing the influence of landowners.

In 1940, Huq had one of his most notable political achievements when he presented the Lahore Resolution at a meeting of All India Muslim League.

In Pakistan, Huq worked for five years as East Pakistan’s attorney general. He was elected as chief minister, served as a federal minister and was a provincial governor in the 50s decade.

Fazlul Huq became secretary of the Bengal Provincial Muslim League in 1913. In 1929, he founded the All Bengal Tenants Association, which evolved into a political platform.

He held important political offices, including education minister of Bengal (1924), first Muslim Mayor of Calcutta (1935), Prime Minister of Bengal (1937-1943), Advocate General of East Pakistan (1947-1952), Home Minister of Pakistan (1955-1956) and Governor of East Pakistan (1956-1958).

Born into a Nawab family in Bengal in 1894, he was educated at the Aligarh Muslim University before pursuing his education at the Cambridge University in UK to secure his graduation. He started his political career in Muslim League on his return, where he primarily focused on education in Bengal before leading the cause for separate Muslim homeland of Pakistan, under the leadership of Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

He served as the prime minister of Bengal from 1943 to 1945 and later became the chief minister in 1947 until 1948, when he ascended as governor-general after the death of Father of the Nation Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

He took over the control of the government as prime minister of Pakistan in 1951 after the assassination of Liaquat Ali Khan and relinquished the post of Governor-General to Malik Ghulam Mohammad.

He struggled to run the government effectively as prime minister on the internal and foreign fronts, however, held the top government office for only two years.

He strived to maintain law and order in the country on the home front, and ordered the military to impose martial law in Lahore due to religious riots.

He also faced a language movement in his native Bengal that eventually led to the shutdown of the government in East Pakistan.

He was forced to step down in favor of a diplomat Mohammad Ali Bogra by Governor-General Malik Ghulam Mohammad. After retiring from national politics, he suffered illness and died in 1964.

He has been buried at a mausoleum in Dhaka.

Ibrahim Ismail Chundrigar

Ibrahim Ismail Chundrigar, best known as I. I. Chundrigar, was the sixth Prime Minister of Pakistan, appointed on 17 October 1957 until being removed due to the vote of no confidence against him on 11 December 1957.

Trained in the constitutional law from Bombay, Chundrigar’s tenure is the second shortest in the parliamentary history of Pakistan just after that of Nurul Amin who served as prime minister for 13 days. Chundrigar served only for just 55 days.

He was born in Godhra, Gujarat in British India on September 15, 1897. He was initially schooled in Ahmedabad where he finished his matriculation and moved to Bombay for his higher studies.

He went to attend Bombay University where he secured his graduation with the BA degree in philosophy, and later the LLB from the same university in 1929.

Chundrigar began practising civil law and moved to practice the law at the Bombay High Court in 1937. During this period, he acquainted with Muhammad Ali Jinnah, sharing similar political views and work ethics.

In 1935, he represented the Muslim League to give a response to the Government of India Act 1935 introduced by the British government.

In 1936, he joined the Muslim League and won elections in 1937 as a member of the Bombay Legislative Assembly. He took over the Muslim League’s provincial presidency in Bombay. In 1946, he was named and appointed as Commerce Minister under the administrations of Viceroys of India, Lord Wavell and Lord Mountbatten.

After the partition of India, Chundrigar held the office of the commerce minister in the administration of Prime Minister Liaquat Ali Khan. He later appointed as the Pakistan ambassador to Afghanistan for a brief period. In 1950, he was appointed Governor of the NWFP (Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa), which he tenured until 1951. In 1951 he nominated the Governor of Punjab but was removed amid differences developed in 1953 with Governor-General Ghulam Muhammad when he enforced martial law at the instructions of Prime Minister Khwaja Nazimuddin to control violent religious riots that occurred in Lahore.

Later, he was appointed as Pakistan’s Ambassador to Turkey. In 1955, he was called from Turkey to join a coalition government in the Centre. He was appointed Minister of Law and Justice.

After the resignation of Prime Minister Husseyn Shaheed Suhrawardy in 1956, Chudrigar was nominated as the Prime Minister and was supported by Awami League, Krishak Sramik Party, Nizem-i-Islam Party, and the Republican Party.

On 18 October 1957, he took the oath of office. At the first session of the National Assembly, I.I. Chundrigar presented his plans to reform the electoral college, which was met with opposition even by his Cabinet ministers from the Republican Party and the Awami League. A successful vote of no-confidence in the National Assembly ended his term and he resigned from the PM office.

Jogendranath Mandal

Jogendranath Mandal was one of the founding fathers of Pakistan, and he served as the country’s first minister of law and labour, and also was the second minister of commonwealth and Kashmir affairs.

As a leader of Dalits, Jogendranath had made common cause with the Muslim League in its demand for a separate homeland, hoping that Dalits would be benefited from it and joined the first cabinet in Pakistan.

He was one of the 96 members of the Constituent Assembly of Pakistan. He agreed to serve as the new state’s first Minister for Law and Labour, becoming the highest-ranking Hindu member of the government of the country.

1. Malik Ata Muhammad Khan: Chief of Kot Fateh Khan & Tent Pegging.

Khan Sahib belongs to a very affluent family and is a proud Ex-Aitchisonian. He won the 1982 World Championship for tent pegging and was widely known for the unique style he had which strongly reflected his roots and origin. In 1983, BBC made a documentary featuring Malik Sahib which was called ‘One Man and his Horse’. Khan Sahib has spent his entire life promoting the art of tent pegging and his love for sports not only in Pakistan, but has made sure his country was represented around the globe.

Jahangir Khan conquered one court at a time. This amazing player from Pakistan, during his career, won the World Open six times and the British Open a record ten times! Upon retirement, he served as the president for the World Squash Federation from the year 2002-2008.

The forward player was a celebrated sportsman from 1969 to 1978. During those 9 years, he played with such agility that his contemporaries began to fear him in the hockey fields. He was capped an astounding 68 times and scored 45 goals for the Pakistan National Hockey Team. He won the silver medal in 1972 and a Bronze in the 1976 Olympics. Sheikh Sahib won the title in both 1971 and 1978 Field Hockey World Cup and was the runner-up in 1975.

In her career she has won five prestigious titles of the El Salvador Open 2002, Ottawa Open 2003, Pakistan Open 2005, Iranian Open 2007 and Austrian Open in 2008. It was in the 1999 British open that she played her first tournament after which there was no stopping her. To be ranked No. 1 for a decade is an achievement in itself, to add to which the fact that this dynamic player won a total of 99 titles. Out of these 99, Jansher Khan won the World Open a record 8 times and the British open at 6, making him one of the most legendary players of his time. Khan Sahib also won the prestigious World Junior Squash Championship title in the year 1986; in the same year, he was awarded for being the youngest player to become Senior World Champion and a professional squash player. 8. kaleemullah khan: the sacramento republic player. .

Khan is yet another 22 year old prodigy who not only plays for the Pakistan National team, but also for the Sacramento Republic. He scored 35 goals in all competitions, won the league title cup and also qualified for the President’s Cup in which he scored five goals upon reaching the finals. Kaleeumullah won his fourth league and then signed for Dordoi in 2014, where he was an integral player having achieved three major titles; the league title, league cup and the super cup. The young man scored 18 goals and received an award for being the league’s highest top goalscorer. Kaleemullah was then also named as the Best Player of Kyrgyzstan League. To add to his achievements, he was then recruited by the Sacramento Republic.

Javed Miandad is referred to as one of the greatest batsman to have been produced by Pakistan! Born in 1957, the length of his career lasted through 1975 up till 1996. He is widely known for being the nations leading run scorer in test crickets and has been labelled as a legend by ESPN. During his career he was also appointed as the captain of the national team which proved to be quite successful. Miandad achieved the title of being the youngest batsman to score a century on debut at the very young age of 19. He also effortlessly broke George Headley’s record that had lasted 47 years and became the youngest player, at 19, to have scored a double century. One of his most memorable moments is when he hit a six on the last ball against India to win the Austral-Asia Cup in 1986.

The young athlete is one of the first Pakistani International female swimmers who is also an Olympic atlete. In the locally held 28th National games she won 7 gold medals, 3 silver and 3 bronze medals. She is amongst the very few Pakistani women to have won a gold medal for her nation in the 3rd Islamic Games where she bagged a total of 13 medals out of which 2 were gold. Yet another Aitchisonian, the man emanates an aura of control and impeccable skill; that is exactly what he proved to be made of when he led Pakistan to World Cup glory in 1992. Imran Khan’s career lasted from1971 to 1992, during which he won numerous titles for Pakistan. Khan Sahib assumed captaincy twice and it was during his second tenure, upon the request of the President of that time, that the dynamic man led the team to World Cup victory. In 2010, Imran Khan was inducted into the Cricket Hall of fame.

Born in 1955, Munir Sadiq is an international Pakistani winner who received three gold medals in the Asian Games; his first gold medal was during the esteemed Bangkok Games in 1978 for sailing. In the 1988 Asian Games, he bagged a silver medal at the open enterprise which led him to becoming the first sailor to have won 5 medals at the Asian Games.

13. baadshah pehalwan khan: the national wrestling champion..

The 22-year-old first debuted as a trainee in France during 2010, after which he participated in his first professional match in 2012. Baadshah has been trained by excellent coaches for styles such as the lucha libre and European by Flesh Gordon in France. In the United States his training was done by Jesse Hernandez. To add to this achievement, Miss Baig is the also the first Muslim woman to have climbed the Seven Summits as well. Born in 1946, John Permal was considered to be the fastest human in Pakistan from the years 1964-1974. In the 1965 National Games, he became Pakistan’s fastest man in Lahore. After that he kept bagging title after title: Rawalpindi in 1967, Dhaka in 1968, Karachi 1970, Nawabshah in 1971 and finally Lahore yet again in 1973. He was one of the most feared sprinters as acclaimed by international media and represented Pakistan with distinctions, in some of the most prestigious competitions such as the Asian Games and then at the Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh.

The foot and track athlete, born in 1988, won the title of the fastest woman in South Asia after her superb record timing that won her the gold medal in the 100 meters race at the 2010 Asian Games held in Dhaka. Her talent also won her the attention of military coaches which added to her opportunity as that is what led her into representing Pakistan in the 2010 Games. She was appointed as the ambassador of sports based on her performance in the SAF games, by then President Asif Ali Zardari.
